Finally, on the 18 and 19th of April, the first round of British F4 took place. In practice before the event, Jarrett has been fast, and he was looking forward to qualification. In British F4, the event has qualification, then three races. Your fastest time determines where you start in race 3, the second race has the top 12 from qualifiying compete with a reversed grid, and then race 1 is determined by your second fastest qualification lap. Jarrett did very well, being 3rd fastest with his fastest lap, and 2nd fastest with his second lap. He also impressed by being one of only two drivers to not have track limit penalties in the top 20.
Jarrett got off to bad start, dropping three places, but eventually crossed the line in 5th position. However, with various penalties applied to other drivers, Jarrett came a provisional 2nd before the other drivers penalties were rescinded.
In the second race, with reverse grids, Jarrett started 10th, once again a slow start cost him places but he still managed to make places back and finish in 8th
In the final race, again Jarrett had a slow start, and then multiple incidents saw him go off the track to finish in 20th.
Despite the slow starts, good qualification has helped Jarrett to 7th in the standings after the first event, and with improved starts should revisit the podium going forward.
