British F4 started the second half of the season with a race at Thruxton, the fastest track in the UK. Jarrett was looking for some good results to push him up the championship standings. It was a very tight qualification, with less than one tenth of a second between the top seven drivers, Jarrett managed to be 7th fastest on his fastest lap, and 9th fastest on his second fastest lap. This meant we would start 9th in the first race, 6th in the second race (top 12 reverse grid) and 7th in the final race.
Jarrett made a great start in the first race. He avoided a number of incidents to finish a very creditable 5th. The race had featured a couple of safety cars. In the second race, Jarrett started 6th, and with close racing throughout finished a very creditable 3rd. However, a post-race 5 second penalty saw him drop out of the points.
In the final race, Jarrett started 7th, raced very well, and was pushing for 3rd at various points in the race. He was set for a 4th place finish, but went off on the last lap to not finish.
While it is easy to get discouraged when errors cost championship points, there are huge positives from this weekend. At the beginning of the championship, Jarrett was often not making up places, but in this event was constantly challenging and pushing past drivers in front of him, and showed good driving ability. While the results were disappointing, the driving was good.
