2024 was a year of development and some frustration for Jarrett. On the development side, Jarrett has grown substantially both mentally and physically. Jarrett also showed flashes of brilliance, but was also held back by decisions that were out of his control - which is part and parcel of motorsport. The highlight was a 4th place in the final round of the RGMMC Champions of the Future, which left him in a decent 12th overall in the Championship out of 170 drivers. In particular, Jarrett excelled in wet conditions which has always tended to favour skilled drivers over fast engines.
As discussed in the last post, Jarrett will be racing in the Ginetta Junior Championship this year. In the last two months, we have spent time testing in the UK and Spain. Racing in cars is very different to karts and requires different techniques, for example gear shifting and how you use the brake. It is also a different type of racing, for example, you need to plan very far in advance during a race. In karting, engine and chassis makers are separate, making getting the chassis and engine correct potentially very difficult. In Ginetta, the cars and engines come from the Ginetta factory, where the manufacturer endeavours to make the cars as similar as possible, which should lead to close racing.
You can watch races and learn more about Ginetta here. Jarrett will be racing with R Racing, who won the championship last year.
Jarrett currently plans to do some select karting this year as well Ginetta. Should be a very exciting year for Jarrett.
