A NEW SEASON BEGINS

Decent results in the first race of the season

For the last few months Jarrett has been busy testing and getting used to the big leap into a Ginetta Junior car. Jarrett has also just competed in the first round of the championship.

Testing has taken Jarrett all over the UK to tracks such as Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Snetterton to name a few. He also travelled to 3 different Spanish tracks at the end of 2024, and the Netherlands to the famous and very difficult Zandvoort circuit where he will be racing in round 5 of the championship.

It has been a steep learning curve as driving technique is very different to karting and you do far less testing. All races are live streamed - and you can watch one of the closely fought races on the link below (fast forward to 12:09).

Jarrett's maiden championship race took place at Donington Park 3-6th April. It was always going to be tough. Unlike karting you get no warm up prior to qualifying or any of the races. There are no heats and you are plunged into racing. Race 1 grid is determined by fastest lap. Race 2 by 2nd fastest lap. Race 3, your finishing positions of race 2.

Jarrett took a cautious approach to the weekend as again unlike karting sanctions are enforced more readily for exceeding track limits or executing poor/dangerous manoeuvres. However caution did not pay off for qualifying with a disappointing P12, leaving much work to be done during the races.

Race 1 he managed a decent P11 making up 1 place. Race 2 he ended up P13, following an impressive drive from the back of the grid having been involved in an incident near the start of the race. Race 3 was his best result with a solid P7 finish (P4 rookie) having started the race in P13

Ginetta Cars Ltd is a British specialist builder of racing and sports cars founded in 1958 which is now based in Garforth, Leeds, West Yorkshire. All the cars are produced at the 75000 sq. ft. facility.

They produce road cars (The Akula, Ginetta GTO, and G10), prototypes, 3 different G56 cars and the G40 Junior Evo which Jarrett now races. The G40 is the most successful junior racing car on the circuit, with a top speed of 100mph, 100 bhp, weighing 850kg and 1.8ltr engine capacity.

The Ginetta Junior Championship is a one make racing series. It is the UKs longest running and most prestigious junior championship and is for drivers aged 14 to 17 years old, fielding a multinational grid. The Junior championship consists of 8 rounds across the most well known circuits in the UK plus one round overseas at the famous Zandvoort circuit near Amsterdam.

Each round is 4 days long; 2 compulsory test days, with 3 sessions per day, then 1 qualifying session and 3 races split across the remainder 2 days. Qualifying is 1 out lap, 3 times laps, and an in lap and each race is 20mins long.
