The next round of the Ginetta Junior Championship was at Oulton Park in the North West of the UK, not too far from Liverpool. Compared to Silverstone, it is a narrower, undulating technical track, that requires a lot of skill.
Oulton Park does not allow racing on a Sunday, meaning the final 2 races took place on the Monday - making it a slightly longer event that usual. The weather over the course of the weekend, was quite varied which meant getting the correct set up for the car was vital.
For qualification, rain the previous night left mixed track conditions. Alas this proved too much for some competitors resulting in 3 red flags and qualifying being cancelled. This was unfortunate, as Jarrett had set fastest sector times in the odd laps that had been completed and had shown top 5 pace during the previous days testing. Qualification was then based off championship position, which meant Jarrett started 10th for races 1 and 2.
In race one, Jarrett gained a place at the start and ran in P9 for the majority of the race until a battle on the final two laps which led to him losing two positions and finishing in P11.
Race 2, Jarrett climbed 1 place to finish P9, after having to deal with set up issues.
The final race was an absolute dog fight, which saw Jarrett dropping back in the field whilst trying to avoid spins and collisions in front. Further collision allowed him to fight back to a credible P8.
A reasonable weekend, which Jarrett had hoped for more particularly given the pace he had shown in practice. As ever there were lots of take-aways and learning to apply to the next round at Snetterton in July.
