Jarrett came into World Championship full of confidence after a very strong showing in the lead up event, finishing p4 in the final. Jarrett started well, qualifying 3rd fastest in his group and 14th overall.
Heat results were consistently good, with Jarrett having all top 8 finishes, and one third place. With the heats being very hard fought, many drivers suffered at least one DNF in their heats, so Jarrett’s consistency led him to be 13th overall after heats, out of 120 drivers.
This led Jarrett to start the superheat on finals day in 7th. Starting the super heat well, he was completing an overtake to move him up to 4th, with a few laps left to go when disaster struck. The back wheel of Jarrett’s kart touched the back wheel of the kart he was overtaking, which forced Jarrett’s kart up and over the other kart. This forced him out of the race.
Despite, this Jarrett still qualified for the final in 23rd position. Heavy rain meant that Jarrett had a chance to do well in the final. Jarrett had been very good in the rain in the lead up event. In the final Jarrett was up to 14th place, and was overtaking another kart, when he was forced wide and into the back of a kart that was stopped in the track. This ended his race. Jarrett showed great pace and skill, but luck deserted him in this World Championship.
