CONSISTENCY IN SPAIN

Jarrett's consistency shone through, with a P11 in the final

We were back in Valencia for the first round of the Champions of the Future. 112 drivers were competing in the OK-Junior category from 39 different nations. Qualification was tricky, but Jarrett managed a creditable 7th fastest in his group.

There was total of 7 heats to determine who would go on to the Superheats (the top 72 drivers), and in Jarrett’s first two heats he finished 10th and 11th, before putting in a very creditable 4th.

The next day, Jarrett did even better managing to finish 3rd in a heat, his best performance in OK-Junior. The final lap is shown below.

Jarrett finished his heats off with 6th, 7th and 13th place finishes, which meant he qualified 22nd overall. In the superheat he finished 7th. This meant, in the final he started 13th, but in torrential rain, he fell back to 20th after a few laps. But in a race that saw only 20 finish from the original 36 starters. Jarrett finished 11th, his best result in OK-Junior. Jarrett may not have the fastest engine, but he showed what can be achieved with smart and consistent driving. Jarrett is now 16th in the championship in a very competitive field.
